The Leeds friends of LWPT welcome you!

Let me share some good news with you!  Already the Leeds Friends of LWPT are finding new opportunities to meet together and are arranging a variety of activities for fellowship,  interesting times spent together, and fund raising.

On 7th June the Dewsbury and Mirfield Circuit had a coffee morning and raised £80 for LWPT,  as well as having a most enjoyable morning together.  A similar occasion was arranged for 24th June by the Otley and Aireborough Circuit at the Otley Methodist Church. The journey to see that church with its beautiful stained glass windows is a treat in itself.  They had a beautiful sunny morning,  and an excellent time together,  raising £85 for the LWPT.

Here are some future dates for your diaries.

Tuesday 2nd August  – 7.30 pm at Christ Church Methodist / URC Church.
The Richmond Hill Circuit has arranged a celebration of Worship and Preaching during which Leslie Roberts, member of the LPMA General Committee,  will receive his certificate marking his 30 years on full plan as an accredited Local Preacher.   The service will conclude with the Sacrament of the Holy Communion.  All friends are invited.

Saturday 8th October 4pm – 7.30pm at King’s Way URC / Methodist Church,  Ossett.
This is the date set by the last Leeds District Meeting of LPMA at Lidgett Park.  Ros Peedle, Sen Hon Sec of LPMA and LWPT Trustee,  and  Frank Pickles, former LPMA President and current LWPT Chair, will both be present.  We are extremely fortunate that two such influential people in the LPMA and LWPT will take part throughout the whole afternoon.

This is the plan of the day:

4pm    Short business meeting to conclude LPMA business, and raise ideas and possibilities for new opportunities to meet as friends of LWPT.  My proposal is that we continue two District fellowship events a year,  and ask local circuits to have one fund-raising event as well.   Opportunity for concerns to be clarified,  and any other questions.

5 pm  Cooked evening meal A Celebration  Tea  - the cost will be about £6 –
welcome by the Revd. Kay Aldbergh,  the new local URC minister at King’s Way.

6 pm  -  A Leeds District Friends Celebration for LPMA  -  looking forward to the future with LWPT, with musical items from Sanctus by Lyndham Wilkinson, bass.
I am hoping that both Ros Peedle & Frank Pickles will participate along with our own friends who will represent all aspects of Worship and Preaching.  All former LPMA members and interested LWPT Friends are invited to come to all or any part of the afternoon.  Please let John Witt know if you can come to our festive meal for the numbers for catering and tell him of you have any special dietary requirements.

Wednesday 16th November,  LPMA President - Mrs. Lois Morton - addresses the Leeds Richmond Hill Circuit LP / LWP meeting at Colton.

Saturday 5th March 2006 12 noon Fellowship Lunch at Trinity Methodist Church, Tempest Road,  South Leeds – cost c. £6.  Our after lunch speaker is Mrs. Lois Morton - LPMA President 2005-2006,  and LWPT Friends Ambassador.  All friends welcome.
